Barbie Math Games

Mattel is introducing Barbie math games as well as typing, spelling, etc. in the form of computers for youth ages 8 and up.  These Barbie computers teach math as well as spelling, typing and creative writing in a fun way and are attractive to this age group of young girls.

The computers will contain Pentium - Intel processor chips and windows 98 processing software systems.  Standard models include a pink Barbie for girls and a blue hot wheels version for young boys.  One model will be silver with pink and purple accents and will have a mouse decorated with flowers, mouse pad, and digital camera making it an even more attractive.

The boy’s model focuses more on car design and building than math games and typing because of the attractiveness factor.  This does raise some questions about the stereotype and questionable interest level maintained with these models.

These Barbie math game computers will have plenty of software that will be included offering Barbie cool looks, Barbie fashion designer, Barbie riding club,  Barbie Math games workshop, Mavis teaches typing,  as well as Ultimate writing and creating center.

Overall this is a good well rounded package and attractive to some parents for a price tag of $599 for a computer system with all the added software and capability.  Math games and computer learning centers are ideas thought for geeky-brainy boys are now a thing of the past, and these models should be attractive fun learning tools for young children and their parents.  I do have some concerns about the interest levels of young children, however as long as little sister isn’t interrupted with her math games by her brother’s car designing, I think it should prove to be a successful marketing venture.

Barbie Math games have gotten a lot of attention online and will probably go over well as a fun teaching tool for young girls and boys on their computers.
